IRIS (International Railway Industry Standard), the Quality Management System dedicated to the railroad industry has been developed by the Association of the European Rail Industry (UNIFE). The basis for the development of the system were the requirements of ISO 9001, taking into account the rail industry standards for quality, reliability and technical safety, comparable to those existing in aviation (AS 9100), automotive industry (ISO/ TS 16949) or applicable to medical devices (ISO 13485).

IRIS (ISO/TS 22163) certification is addressed to entities that operate in the railway market, in particular:

  • railway network operators,
  • manufacturers and suppliers of railway vehicles,
  • companies that supply products to the railroad industry.

So far, IRIS certificate (ISO/TS 22163) has been granted to 2197 companies worldwide, including 67 companies in Poland. ENTE Sp. z o.o., as a manufacturer of passenger information system (AWIA SDIP) intended for, i.a., railway and tramway rolling-stock, is one of them.

The company was granted the certificate of compliance with the requirements of IRIS standard (ISO/TS 22162) in 2016, and has successfully completed the recertification process this year. Moreover, during this year's audit, the company met additional requirements, beyond the basic evaluation criterion, and was awarded the IRIS Silver Quality Performance Level. Thus, the company is now among only 9 Polish companies rated so highly.

IRIS certificate (ISO/TS 22163) and Silver Quality Performance Level, held by ENTE, are objective evidence that the quality management system implemented in the company complies with the international standards of the railroad industry.
